  • Nursery technique: seeds are sown in primary beds in march-April. Germination takes place in early rains and continues for 6 to 7 weeks. They are pricked out to polybags in first rains and planted in the second rains.

  • Flowering: April – May.
  • Fruiting: Pods commence ripening in December, and continue from january to March – April.

Description

  • Cassia fistula can grow to be a medium to large-sized tree, reaching heights of about 10 to 20 meters (30 to 65 feet) tall. Its canopy can spread out to about 7 to 12 meters (23 to 40 feet) wide.

  • Recommended for plantations in poor shallow granite, sand-stone soil and laterite soil. It is a very good copicer.
  • Flowers: The Golden Shower Tree is most famous for its striking, cascading clusters of bright yellow flowers. These flowers are pendulous and have five petals. The blooms can be quite large, measuring about 4 to 6 centimeters (1.5 to 2.5 inches) in diameter. The tree produces an abundance of flowers during its flowering season, creating a beautiful spectacle.
